A story of boldness and strategy that began in 1973.MPC
– Meccanica di Precisione Cesenate, a historic company in the world of precision mechanics, celebrates 50 years of activity this year. Founded in 1973 under the name BCM, it is the fruit of the intuition of Mauro Batani, Stefano Mancini , and Valdes Collini, who demonstrated great foresight right from the early 1980s. The most significant example of investment in technology was the purchase of numerically controlled machinery: a true innovation in those years, which elevated the company and allowed it to become a point of reference in the area. The important consolidated foundations facilitated the following decade: the promising 1990s marked the arrival of a young intern who would later prove to be a particularly important figure.
Stefano Soldati, the current owner of the company, took his first steps in what we would now call "school-work alternation," developing professionally and personally under the guidance of his three partners. As Soldati himself emphasizes, the approach adopted by Nuova BCM at the time was healthy and constructive, a long and patient transmission of values and knowledge, so dear to past generations. At the dawn of the 21st century, with the passing of Valter Collini and the departure of Stefano Mancini, Mauro Batani was left alone at the helm. It was then that he added several young people to his team, thus injecting a burst of energy and innovation. The new structure of five partners immediately demonstrated a propensity for exploring new horizons: to meet this need and in parallel with Nuova BCM, MPC was founded in 2007, with the aim of expanding its expertise and effectively positioning itself beyond national borders.
In 2012, the baton passed from Mauro to Stefano, a young man of great promise, now an enthusiastic leader capable of leading the company into the new millennium. These were the years in which an increasingly clear vision emerged, with the specific aim of positioning the company as an international benchmark in the manufacturing of medium-to-large mechanical components serving sectors such as hydraulics, naval engineering, and wind power. The acquisition of new clients, the selection of a winning team, and ever-increasing specialization fueled the enthusiasm of the new management, which set in motion a rapid modernization process. In 2015, an innovative system for extracting work fumes was installed, followed shortly thereafter by a photovoltaic system, with a view to an increasingly green energy supply.
But the great acceleration occurred in 2017. Industry 4.0 is a wind of change that tolerates no delays or inadequacies: MPC fully understood the significance of the fourth industrial revolution and followed its upward currents, allocating significant resources to the purchase of highly sophisticated technologies. In 2022, despite the pandemic years, the company inaugurated a new wing of the plant, further expanding its space and improving working conditions.
These latter concerns are at the heart of Stefano, his sister Chiara, and plant manager Giorgio Saiani, who have always been attentive to welfare issues. Since 2017, employees celebrating the birth of their first child have received €1,500 from the company, which also supports civil unions and weddings with an additional €1,000 bonus. This is a recognition of its employees, but also a commitment to honoring the human values passed down by the founding members. Fifty years have passed since that distant 1973. Not a point of arrival, Stefano specifies, but a moment to celebrate in the awareness of future challenges. To mark the occasion, a special event will be held on June 30th at the company premises by invitation: an aperitif, dinner, a show with acrobats, and a performance by actor and writer Roberto Mercadini, who will tell the audience about this half-century of solid dreams.
